Akzo Nobel Launch Party
Akzo Nobel wanted to raise the profile of the world's largest unknown company with a spectacular event to engage and entertain media and influencers culminating in an unforgettable public launch resulting in prime time news coverage viewed by over seven million people.
Working with the design agency Imagination, event lighting installation specialist Fantastic Illuminations provided a selection of lighting products to help create the dramatic public launch staged on a floating pontoon in Amsterdam's ferry terminal. The short performance included acrobats and dancers performing on a large scaffolding structure as a large printed theatrical gauze scrim (can appear transparent or solid depending on how it’s lit) was raised revealing the new company logo and at the same time making the large scaffolding structure and performers disappear.
The pontoon was rigged with fireworks, flame-jets, generators, lighting and sound equipment in an empty dock before being towed to the ferry terminal. Fantastic Illuminations supplied and installed the event lighting, control and electrical distribution equipment making this technically challenging project possible.
Commenting on the project, Fantastic Illuminations Project Manager Richard Marks says "This is a really exciting project to be involved with. Imagination are at the forefront of event design and it is important that the technical systems perform correctly to allow Imagination to achieve their ambitions. The team have done a fantastic job using our products to great effect in somewhat unusual and challenging circumstances."
